Location of the 6th (Inniskilling) Dragoons Service Squadron in France and Belgium
1 July 1916 to 31 August 1917
This map shows the squadron's movements while part of the 2nd North Irish Horse Regiment, working as corps cavalry to X Corps. Towns in which the headquarters of the regiment were based are shown in red.
After four months on the Somme front, the regiment moved to the Ypres salient, mainly based in Boeschepe.
In August 1917 the regiment moved to Harfleur for infantry training prior to being absorbed into the 9th Battalion, Royal Irish Fusiliers. From that time the Service Squadron only exisited as a depot at Enniskillen, providing reinforcements to the regular regiment of the 6th Inniskilling Dragoons.
